Artificial BioMechanical Heart

At Steve Johnson's XFX I was tasked with creating a set of biomechanical artificial organs for Robin Williams in 'Bicentennial Man' as his robotic character attempts to become more human.

The heart was constructed out of translucent materials and each underlying layer was painted so that as the heart's valves inflated all of the underlying detail would become visible.

Heart in Action

This malleable face was used to give the impression that the robotic scientist is "sculpting" Robin Williams's face out of a hi-tech goo. A featureless blob of the material was first worked over by the actor, then after a camera cut was replaced by this rubbery lifecast of Robin Williams.
